Diary of Saint Faustina

 L.a

The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy was received by St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun, through the visions she received from Jesus Christ in Vilna (Lithuania) between September 13 and 14 in 1935

She recorded the instructions that Jesus Christ had dictated to her, in her diary. The chaplet is a supplication to appease God's anger for the sins of the whole world. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is an intercessory prayer, and its intentions are threefold: to obtain mercy, to trust in Christ's mercy and to show mercy to others.

Jesus said to St. Faustina:

"Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you.....Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death.....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge, but as the Merciful Savior.....Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite Mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My Mercy.....Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My Will."  (687,1541,1731)

Jesus also said: At the hour of death, I will defend as My own glory every soul that says this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same. When this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, God’s anger is placated, and unfathomable mercy envelops the soul, and the very depths of My tender mercy will be moved for the sake of the sorrowful Passion of My Son.(811)
